From Test-Scratch-Wiki
Welcome! Before you get started I must instruct you in the way that this wiki works. First, please read either (or both) of the following:
- The English wiki Welcome tutorial - much more beginner-friendly, gets you started with wikitext syntax, has stuff specifically related to the Scratch Wikis. (Recommended if you can read this sentence without Google Translate)
- MediaWiki help pages - translated into many languages, probably including yours, and describes how wikis work in general. (Recommended if you need something in your own language)
Next, heed the following instructions:
Your focus for now will be translating pages from English to Polish. You should not worry about creating any pages specific to the Polish wiki yet; instead, focus on translating.
When creating a page to be translated, you must follow the steps below. Let's say you want to translate the page Eng:Blocks. According to Google Translate, "blocks" in Polish is "bloki".
- Create the page Pol:Bloki.
- The contents of the page must be copied from the Eng: page.
- Make sure that the page has
{{:Eng:Blocks/translate}}
at the top.
- Edit the page Eng:Blocks/translate
- If there is already a line that looks like
|Pol=
, change it to|Pol=Bloki
- If not, add the line
|Pol=Bloki
just before the line that looks like}}
- If there is already a line that looks like
- Start translating any English text into Polish.
- When linking to other pages, always link with
Pol:
before the page name - When using translated templates, always transclude with
Pol/
before the template name - When categorizing pages, always categorize with
Pol/
before the category name
- When linking to other pages, always link with
While you are doing all this, start looking on Scratch for more people to help you - editing a wiki is not a one-man job.
Good luck editing!

- [offtopic]haha, for once Google Translate is right[/offtopic] So if I understand correctly, to create the Scratch 3.0 page, I:
create "Pol:Scratch 3.0"
add the contents from the eng page and the translate template
and that's it? (everything else I understand)SonicFanX123 321 (talk) 08:52, 26 July 2021 (UTC)- After adding the eng contents and the translate template, you can then start translating English text into Polish. You seem to have done it right on Pol:Scratch 3.0. You may want to start translating the templates used on that page (e.g. Template:Scratch Release → Template:Pol/Scratch Uwolnienie if that's at all correct) as well.
└─post by kenny2scratch (talk|contribs) 07:57, 28 July 2021 (UTC) - Also note that for templates specifically, the translation header is:
<noinclude>{{:Template:Scratch Release/translate}}</noinclude>
No Eng: prefix and surround with noinclude tags. - You may have to create the /translate pages for templates yourself, as namespaces other than Eng: aren't filled out very well at the moment.
└─post by kenny2scratch (talk|contribs) 08:01, 28 July 2021 (UTC)- ah, okay! Thanks. Also, I think you used google translate, correct? The correct term would be something like "Wydanie Scratch" XD, but that's okay. Thanks for telling me. :)Join the Polish Scratch Wiki :D (talk) 09:05, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
